Local Artist uses BWC scrap wood

A local artist and good friend of ours has been collecting our scrap wood from various projects for about a year.We recently went to his place to check out his work, and what he has created is fantastic.

Philo is an assemblage artist that works with found objects and gives them wonderful new life. He currently resides in San Jose, CA, and we highly recommend viewing his website.

These two pieces (above and below) are from our Three Rings projects. We are probably the only ones who would recognize this stuff as having a previous life.

We keep a box at our shop that we fill with scrap that comes out in interesting and fun shapes. We have encouraged everyone we know to take what ever scrap they want, and Philo has taken these scrap pieces to his full advantage, using them as frames that he fills with textures, and as pure shapes to add interest.

His whole place is filled with art that he or his friends have made, and found objects from everywhere.

It is a joy to see this stuff repurposed. The cut out on the left is from our LED tables.... the middle circles are from making x-mas trees and the fan on the right is the old fan out of our Van!
