The need for outdoor space is a reality for the food and beverage industry, and it became a real need for The Interval at Fort Mason, SF, while we live through the pandemic. A long time client, we were eager to help design and create something that could serve all the needs of this challenging location. Heavy foot traffic, sea air, a fire lane along the entire location were just a few of the design challenges we needed to address.

The Parklets also had to match the historic buildings at Fort Mason, where they would live, as well as feel similar to the neighboring restaurant’s outdoor structure. A rendering (above) and a photograph of the finished elements (below) show how, through detailed design modeling and digital fabrication, our final designs resemble our design drawings almost exactly.

Six parklet units in all stand right outside The Interval venue to be used for over flow seating and creates a street presence that did not exist before. The inviting Parklets at The Interval draw people’s curiosity even more, allowing them to capture more business.

We worked with the client to create detailed studies of the Parklets in the outside space. This amount of upfront work and communication assured the client was receiving exactly what they expected.
